Description
Mothers Opposing Bullying (M.O.B.) Foundation is committed to the realignment of our cultural approach to bullying through the re-education of the issue and its lasting impact while educating, counseling and empowering both victims and victimizers. Bullying has plagued the nation's schools for years and has recently taken on new forms: today children are bullied not only on the playground and in the classroom but through the global digital revolution and social connection mediums.
Every day thousands of children wake up afraid to go to school. Until recently, bullying was justified by a society that chalked it all up to "kids being kids". The reality is that bullying impacts millions of students every year with affects that last a lifetime. No matter how successful a victim becomes, the hidden and sometimes visible scars are ever-lasting and profoundly evident in their interpersonal and professional lives forever.
M.O.B. is dedicated to the eradication of bullying both of the victims and the bullies. It is M.O.B.’s charter to enable and provide support through counseling and education while helping to rid our society of this socially negatively impacting and potential life stealing act that has manifested itself as a global issue. The M.O.B. Foundation will do so by providing education and support to the victims who are being bullied through re-education reinforcement of life skills by trained professional and certified psychologists and clinicians. Counseling and resources are available through M.O.B.’s 1-800 Hotline 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The M.O.B. Foundation’s civic reach goes beyond the victim and into the classroom, educating teachers, administrators, the general public, by-standers and the bullies themselves. M.O.B.’s long-term goal is to team up with school districts across the country around one common goal: To educate, reform and bring accountability and awareness to the forefront about bullying while expounding on its current affects, aftermath, laws and no tolerance cultural and societal aspects.
In addition to the 1-800 Hotline to address immediate risk and assess possible resources, counseling is offered for the prevention and intervention of bullying for children who may be contemplating suicide. Any child who has used that BULLYING HOTLINE will automatically be placed in a follow up system, where parents/ guardians and school administrators will be contacted from the initial point of contact (when the bullying first begins) to completion of the recovery and re-education process. The system will comply fully with regional and State guidelines for counseling within and through educational codes and jurisdictions.
