Volunteer Driver with Villages of San Mateo County
RSVP of San Mateo & Northern Santa Clara Counties
This service enables older adults and persons living with disabilities to continue living in their homes and communities by providing transportation services. Using his/her own vehicle, the volunteer will drive Village members to and from appointments or errands. Rides could be one way or round trip, depending on the timing.
The volunteer must have a valid California driver's license, proof of insurance, and functioning and safe automobile that is suitable for the passengers being served.
The volunteer must agreed to a DMV background check and have a good driving record.
Volunteer Drivers receive a one-hour general village orientation and training, plus one-hour driver training.
Volunteer drivers needed at Mid-Peninsula Village and Sequoia Village. Please specify preferred location at time of inquiry.

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
