Students waiting to visit with a judge.

Volunteers are Needed to be Judges at the virtual Northeast Regional North Dakota Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF Affiliated Fair) Tuesday March 16, 2021. We are recruiting Judges for Zoom Judging sessions which will run from 9 AM until 11:45AM and from 12:45PM until 2:30PM and are asking judges to login at 8:30 AM for the morning session for training and assignment to your Zoom Judging sessions. If you are only volunteering for the PM session you should login at 12:15 for training. Each judging room will have 3-4 judges. Students will sign into the room for a maximum of 15 minutes and will present their projects to the judges and judges will be able to ask questions. Our students have worked very hard on their projects this year and are looking forward to presenting their projects to the judges. Please consider volunteering to judge our 2021 regional fair. Mission Statement

The Mission of the Dakota Science Center is to encourage lifelong curiosity and fascination with science in children, parents, teachers, and the community through discovery, exploration and interaction.

Description

DSC provides hands-on science programming at community events throughout the year and hosts two annual events. Volunteers are needed to help with activity stations at events and help teach children. The Super Science Saturday event is held during National Environmental Education Week in April with hands-on activities for children grades 1-7. The Water Festival is held in May for fourth graders. DSC sponsors Greater Grand Forks Robotics Club which develops classes for youth and participates in the FIRST LEGO League. The out-of-school programs and activities have a non-threatening setting which helps build the confidence of young people. We encourage youth to envision a career in a STEM field.
