To increase the awareness and usage of State Services for the Blind Communication Center services by Minnesotans who have a print disability, but are not necessarily visually impaired (people with dyslexia, physical disabilities, etc.) The volunteer will research Minnesota organizations serving people with various disabilities, identify appropriate contacts at each organization, and get in touch with the designated contact person(s). Later, the volunteer will meet with representatives of these organizations to provide information about Communication Center services, as well as demonstrate Talking Book players and other equipment.
The position would involve using a computer, making telephone calls, traveling to various locations in the Twin Cities and possibly elsewhere in Minnesota, as well as doing public speaking and demonstration of equipment.

Description
State Services for the Blind is a division of the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). We provide vocational rehabilitation, promote independent living, create accessible media, and offer many other services for people who are blind or visually impaired.
