Participate in GRRAND’s effort to walk and socialize all of our rescued dogs housed at Louisville area kennels. Upon intake of our rescued dogs they are housed in a kennel until a foster or adoptive home is arranged. Ideally, the dogs remain in the kennel only for a short time. However, while the dogs are in the kennel we coordinate a team of volunteers to walk and play with the dogs for one hour two times a day.

The walking/interaction time occurs for at least 1 hour. Some dogs have medical conditions and cannot go very far, and thus you will do a short walk then spend the rest of the time playing, petting, and providing positive humane interaction. We have all kinds of dogs including some that are very interactive and some that are quite timid. It is a wonderful experience to walk the dogs and provide one on one human interaction.

Children under the age of 18 will require an adult to accompany them.

Our dog walking coordinator develops a calendar for the walking team and will place you on the schedule as frequently as you desire (ie weekly, every other week, etc).

Currently we have openings for flexible weekday morning dog walkers. We ask that our walkers spend at least an hour with our dogs providing exercise, attention and socialization. The morning walkers arrive between 9:00AM and 10:30AM.
All of the needed supplies are provided by GRRAND. Our current walkers will welcome you to our teams and help you become comfortable with our walking responsibilities! Our coordinator will schedule your time to volunteer based on your availability (weekly, every other week, or monthly).
