The Detroit Historical Society is currently accepting applications for Glancy Trains volunteers to help manage our model train display at the main museum on Woodward Avenue in Detroit.
The train's layout provides visitors an "engineer eye's view" thanks to an engine equipped with a camera that sends a signal to a TV monitor. Visitors can also operate the People Mover, a carousel, passenger stations, a windmill, a circus train and lighting that dims to creat nighttime scenes just by a push of a button.
We are searching for model train enthusiasts who are also interested in helping the Society keep our layout running for families to enjoy as well as behind-the-scenes assistance with train maintenance and care and participation in local travel to programs and events all year round.
