Great Lakes Caring Hospice is looking for Companion Volunteers who will visit patients in local nursing facilities or in private homes. The Companion Volunteer will provide companionship, play cards/games, watch TV, take the patient out into the garden area for fresh air (if you both desire), read to patient, etc. This is a companionship opportunity and there is no physical care involved during your visit.

Hours are very flexible, weekdays, evenings or weekends.

Typically, we ask that you visit your assigned patient 1-2 hours per week for at least a period of six months.

Any interested applicant must first submit to a phone interview followed by training in person and new hire orientation paperwork that includes a TB-test and fingerprinting.

For more information, contact Dana Perrin, Volunteer Coordinator, at 855-727-9111 or e-mail at dperrin@greatlakescaring.com.

Great Lakes Caring encourages a philosophy of care that assists patients, caregivers, family and friends during the final stages of terminal illness. We promote dignity and emphasize quality of life for those who choose to die in familiar surroundings with the ones they love.
