The FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Volunteer at our annual robotics competition and help these students demonstrate what their robots can do!
We need a variety of types of event volunteers to help run the Colorado Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at the Univerity of Denver Ritchie Center (Magness Arena). Some roles require full or multi-day commitments (i.e. robot inspections, referees, field reset, queuing) but we have roles that can be one day or less like crowd control, safety glasses attanedant, field assembly and field disassembly.
Why volunteer with FIRST?
- Make a difference in the lives of young people
- Help kids discover the fun in science and technology
- Help young people apply real-world math and science concepts
- Network with like-minded professionals
- Help celebrate science and technology
