The Dairy Barn

GREENWAY LADIES GUILD MISSION: The Greenway Ladies Guild is an organization of women committed to supporting the Anne Springs Close Greenway through provision of time, talent and treasures, in order to promote the importance of stewardship and protection of this natural preserve.

THE GREEN GALA: The ladies are hosting their 3rd Annual Greenway Gala. This black tie affair will be one night to remember! Last year, $60,000 was raised for the Anne Springs Close Greenway! This year all proceeds go to the Greenway's Summer Camp and Recreation Scholarship Program. As a volunteer, you will get to experience this "green" carpet event while giving back to the Greenway and having fun!

AVAILABLE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

DECORATIONS TEAM - From 10:30am-12:30pm, we will be turning the famous Greenway Dairy Barn into a Greenway Gala work of art! We couldn't get all these flowers and centerpieces set up without our wonderful volunteer help -- come join us!

REGISTRATION - Volunteers will welcome guests and assist with registration as they arrive down the red carpet! Registration training will start at 5:15pm. Event starts at 6pm.

COAT CHECK - Want to see all the beautiful southern suits and gowns as they arrive? Work in coat check and greet guests with a friendly smile.

RAFFLE TICKETS - Volunteers will mingle among the crowd selling raffle tickets. These volunteers must be outgoing and willing to converse with strangers in order to sell tickets benefiting the Greenway.

EVENT CHAPERONE/PATROL - These volunteers will assist with greeting guests and assisting staff with general event control. Basically, we need volunteers patrolling the grounds to make sure guests are on their best behavior. These volunteers do not have to deal with guests directly, but need to alert staff if a guest gets out of hand. With the bourbon tasting this volunteer position might be vital in making sure everyone has an enjoyable night!

SILENT AUCTION RUNNERS - We have quite the assortment of items for this event's silent auction! Volunteers will have in on the excitement as they help run items down from the top level of the Dairy Barn to the eager auction buyers!

SILENT AUCTION CHECKOUT - Volunteers will pair guests to their auction items as the runners deliver the items to the front of the Dairy Barn. Silent auction checkout volunteers will remain in the front throughout the night, print out slips to finalize purchases of items, and hand the envelope with auction bidders name on it as they leave with item!

CHECKOUT BOOTH - Say goodbye to guests as they take off, and hand them a souvenir gift before they go! Polish the night off with a little gift of thanks.

EVENT CHAPERONE -This volunteer has a special role of assisting staff to ensure the event remains in tip-top shape! Chaperones scan the restrooms throughout their shift, answer questions and assist staff with event duties.

TEARDOWN TEAM - Come join us at the Dairy Barn for an hour the day-after to bring all the decor back to the Downtown Fort Mill shop. Free flowers to volunteers who help out on Sunday!!

ROAMERS - These volunteers will assist guests with mobile bidding. All volunteers will be training in on Tuesday, February 28th at the Springfield House. The mobile system is extremely user-friendly so need tech experience needed!

VIP CHECKOUT - Say adieu to guests as they leave for the evening, and hand them a unique VIP Greenway gift.

Mission Statement

To provide stewardship and protect the cultural, ecological and scenic features of the land, while offering recreational and educational opportunities that promote the health and wellness of the community.

Description

Leroy Springs & Company has been providing recreational and educational opportunities to the communities surrounding Springs Industries facilities for over 60 years. In 1995, the Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100 acre nature preserve in Fort Mill, South Carolina, was dedicated to the public to serve as a natural buffer from urban development and a place for countless activities - from hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, to picnics, kayaking and more.

The land was donated by the children of Anne Springs Close to honor her lifelong commitment to recreation and the environment. The Greenway is a not-for-profit entity which receives no ongoing tax dollars to build, maintain or operate its programs, trails and facilities. Owned and managed by Leroy Springs & Company, the Greenway is funded in part by memberships, program fees and generous donations from individuals and corporations.
