Caring Hands Volunteers knit and crochet items that are needed by various community agencies and organizations, i.e., hats and mittens, lap robes, baby blankets, prayer shawls, etc.
Volunteering can be done at home or volunteers are invited to join our "Every Wednesday Knitting and Crocheting Group". Group meets from 11-1 on Wednesdays in our office.

The Voluntary Action Center was built on, and continues to stand on the following goals: to encourage the local spirit of volunteerism by identifying community needs for volunteers, and offer recruitment, placement and recognition services; to strengthen regional information and referral resources: to expand the local growth of mutual-help and to explore the prospects of new human service projects in efforts to meet increased community needs.
Description
Dedicated to the concept of people helping people, the Voluntary Action Center is a contemporary human service organization, that through the goals and objectives of fifteen separate programs, today provides a vast wealth of heavily utilized and highly valued services to both Lackawanna County and the Northeastern Pennsylvania community.
