Lantern Light Tour

EXCITING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY! Be a part of the volunteer team with the Ocmulgee National Monument Assocation to help create the Lantern Light Tours during the Cherry Blossom Festival! We are currently seeking volunteers to help staff our event. Duties include the following: meeting/greeting the public; answering questions; assisting with setup/takedown; assisting with ticket sales; and handing out lanterns. Come help be a part of the group that puts on this great event at Ocmulgee National Monument!

More about the event:

The Lantern Light Tours are Guided or Self Guided tours. 1 mile round trip walk. See Ocmulgee Mounds under the stars. Grab a lantern and walk to the Great Temple Mound. See downtown Macon from the top of the mound. Learn about the history of the Native American that called Ocmulgee home. Museum is open during this time. Visitors are encouraged to view the exhibits and over 2,000 artifacts found on this site during the excavation in the '30s.

Tours every 10 minute
Gates open at 7:00pm & closes at 9:05pm.

Since 1942, the volunteer, membership supported Ocmulgee National Monument Association has partnered with the National Park Service to enhance the educational and interpretive programs at Ocmulgee National Monument. Ocmulgee National Monument Association has provided the resources to further sustain this immensely valuable national, cultural, and historic resource. ONMA strives on a daily basis to bring awareness and recognition to the beauty and wonder that is Ocmulgee National Monument.

Description

The purpose of ONMA is to provide support for Ocmulgee National Monument through fundraising, special events, museum store operations and maintaining a membership program to the public.
