Description
Girls Inc. of Delaware is an affiliate of Girls Inc. which was founded in New England in 1864. Formerly the Girls Clubs of America, nationally Girls Inc. serves more than 138,000 girls across the United States and in Canada.
Our research-based programs provide girls with life-changing experiences and real solutions to the unique issues they face. Girls Inc. gives girls the right tools and support to succeed including trained professionals who mentor and guide them in a safe, girls-only environment alongside peers who share their drive and aspirations.
At Girls Inc., girls learn to set and achieve goals, boldly confront challenges, resist peer pressure, see college as attainable, and explore nontraditional fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Informed by the experiences of girls and their families, Girls Inc. works with policymakers to advocate on key legislation and initiatives.
Girls Inc. responds and adapts to the changing needs of girls and their communities. Girls who stay in our programs over time, are empowered to reach their full potential and to understand, value, and assert their rights.
Our programs focuses on three areas:
Healthy Living (STRONG)
Academic Enrichment & Support (SMART)
Life Skills Instruction (BOLD)
These supports provide a framework through which girls can explore new opportunities, develop their inherent strengths, take on healthy decision-making, boldly face challenges, and thrive.
