TITLE: Volunteer Job Readiness Instructor

OBJECTIVE: To help prepare refugees for employment opportunities.

TIME REQUIRED: Flexible, 8 hours per week, Mon. - Fri., 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:

• Bilingual Arabic/English or English/Spanish

• HR or workforce services experience

• Capable and interested in working with people of diverse languages and cultures

• Possess a sense of hospitality, flexibility, patience and good humor

• Ability to work with people of limited English proficiency

• Knowledgeable of entry-level job opportunities that are accessible for people with limited English proficiency

• Able to coach, not interfere or force, appropriate behaviors that lead to employment

OUTLINE OF SERVICES:

• Teach job readiness sessions two mornings per week

• Teach participants about the employment process including resume and letter writing, job search, completing applications, researching employers, basic to advanced interviewing skills and proper workplace behavior.

• Performs other duties as assigned to meet program needs.

• Keep accurate records of volunteer service hours and activities.

• Work collaboratively with the volunteer coordinator and communicate regularly with supervisor.
