This position is being recruited to provide subject matter expertise on older Network Appliance SAN/NAS equipment. We have had a large amount of NetApp donated, and while the equipment is several years old, it still has some serviceable life. We are seeking an experienced NetApp professional to help with the install and management of a subset of the donated equipment to provide storage for image and video archives of the Battleship IOWA.

This position will deal with design, physical installation, connectivity, and management of Network Appliance equipment and the Data OnTap operating system. Initial project would include the assessment of donated equipment, as well as the project planning and execution of the installation. After installation, there will be an ongoing role for administering the storage array.

Hours and time commitments are very flexible.

As a PBC volunteer, you are joining the crew of the Battleship IOWA. We are a community that is sustained by the drive to preserve and interpret this iconic and unique piece of history for generations to come. You will work with a dedicated and highly motivated group of volunteers from multiple generations including veterans who served aboard the Battleship IOWA. You will be given challenging technical problems to solve, as well as the freedom to be creative in the solution. We enjoy a host of social activities including potlucks, field trips, special lectures and behind the scenes tours of areas of the ship that are not currently (and may never be) open to the general public. Volunteers receive a discount in our ship’s store and in some area restaurants and businesses. Our volunteers are also recognized with a variety of awards and ceremonies that celebrate milestones of service and outstanding accomplishments. Come be a part of history today!

New volunteers are paired with a Sponsor on their first day and are expected to attend a one day orientation class offered each month. Departmental training is provided through one-on-one mentorship.
