We are looking for tech savvy volunteers to assist with diagnosing, de-bugging, and troublshooting computers and other technology items for residents of low income public housing. Many residents own computers but are unable to pay to get them fixed when they get a virus or a piece of hardware fails -- or, they may just need help with unfamiliar tasks like software updates. They are very excited when someone can help them with their technology problems!
This position is flexible and could be scheduled as single-day "events" in various housing communities, or as periodic "drop-in sessions" at public computer labs located at housing sites. The Tech Clinic Volunteer would be paired with a STAR Center staff person or AmeriCorps volunteer who is familiar with the residents and housing communities, to assist with outreach and communication.
