Exhibits Committee, Engineering Team Member: Team Lead

Purpose: The position of Engineering Team Lead serves in a leadership role within the Exhibits Committee with regard to providing support and guidance to the entire Engineering team, and building elements for exhibits.

Location: Varies. Most meetings take place at a maximally convenient location for all team members chosen by the Exhibits Director and/or the Engineering Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with all Team Leads regarding design and material choices for exhibit elements.
  • Attend vast majority of Exhibits Committee meetings. (Meetings of the entire committee are minimal.)
  • Attend vast majority of Science Team meetings (approximately every 3-5 weeks).
  • Attend and chair vast majority of Engineering Team meetings (frequency TBD).
  • Communicate with Exhibits Committee members regularly via Trello.
  • Contribute to general Science Team and Engineering Team exhibit brainstorming.
  • Lead and direct the Engineering Team, providing other team members with support and guidance, and providing status reports to Exhibits Director.
  • Take a leadership role with regard to the construction of exhibit elements.

Reports to: Exhibits Director

Time Commitment: In person time: 2-4 hours per month; Independent work time: 2-5 hours per week

Qualifications:

  • Background in engineering, fabrication, construction, carpentry, etc.
  • Must be familiar with woodworking and metalworking concepts
  • Skilled at teamwork and team communication
  • Dependable
  • Lift 50lbs
  • Age Requirement: 22+
