General Qualifications for all Volunteers:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Complete a volunteer application.
- Family Justice Center volunteers must submit to a background check and have a clear record in order to volunteer at the Family Justice Center (FJC pays for all background checks).
- Complete initial and additional volunteer training.
Specific Qualifications/Job Descriptions
Front Office Assistant: Are you a multi tasker? Help provide administrative support including communications with our partners and supporters, preparing information packets, assisting with mailings and answering business phones including crisis calls. Opportunities in both our Georgetown and Myrtle Beach offices.
Community Awareness /Special Events: Help make the public aware of our vital programs and services! FJC participates in numerous community events and volunteers can staff our booth/information table and distribute FJC awareness materials, answer questions related to domestic violence and help to recruit new volunteers.
Resale Boutique: If you have flair for fashion .. our Andrews facility has a successful resale shop with proceeds directly benefiting our programs and clients. Shop volunteers assist in donation sorting , setting up retail displays, customer service, cashiering and stocking.
Child Care: FJC serves both the client and their families. We need assistance with child care during client group and individual counseling sessions. Both our Myrtle Beach and Georgetown offices have wonderful play areas where volunteer can engage children in activities, games and crafts.
Transportation: Many of FJC clients do not have access to a vehicle and need transportation to and from their critical appointments. Drivers with larger vehicles (vans and trucks) are especially needed to pick up donated goods and help move clients to new housing.
Outings for Clients: Help provide a moment of relaxation and fun for our families. With pre-approval FJC will provide funds for volunteers to take clients and/or children to special outings at the beach, parks, shopping, movies, ballgames or other community events.
Assist Direct Service Staff: Volunteers with specialized training can assist in client counseling, case management , and legal advocacy support.
Handyman: If you are a handy man (or handy woman) we need ongoing help with painting, minor repairs, and general maintenance projects in our Myrtle Beach and Georgetown offices, as well as our Shelter.
Shelter Volunteer: Volunteers have the opportunity to work in the shelter/safe house providing a variety of services such as childcare, meal preparation, transportation and special outings.
Donation Organizing: help sort and "style" the generous clothing donations we receive at our Georgetown office collection site to restock both our Client Boutique and our Resale Shop.
Fundraising Events: we host numerous fundraising activities ranging from small scale donated goods campaigns to large scale events like the Taste of Georgetown. An army of volunteers is needed in all capacities to manage the initial planning, set-up , clean-up and staffing of these events.
Court Watch (coming soon): Our Court Watch Program will provide volunteers with specialized legal training so that they may monitor and evaluate court proceedings in domestic violence cases in Horry and Georgetown County Court.
