No One Left Behind is seeking Housing Team members for the San Francisco East Bay Chapter
No One Left Behind is the only veteran-run and veteran focused organization serving combat interpreters and combat support personnel who were forced to leave their homes in Iraq and Afghanistan due to being threatened by the Islamic State/the Taliban for working for the US military. These refugees who risked their lives and those of their families for our troops arrive in the US with few funds, no household goods, and a confusing array of governmental agencies with which to deal. Our mission is to provide them with the support to start a successful life.
No One Left Behind has a guiding principle that everyone who served with or supported our military should be able to have safe, clean, pest-free housing in the United States. In the Bay area, we do not routinely provide housing, but in the emergency situations when our clientele needs assistance finding housing, it tends to be very challenging due to the San Francisco Area housing situation. Housing assistants will check local listings, known landlords, and internet resources when a client family has urgent housing needs. Other possible activities would be to assist client families in applying for low-income housing, and monitoring responses to rent assistance requests.

About No One Left Behind
Location:
P.O. Box 3641, Merrifield, VA 22116, US
Mission Statement
No One Left Behind helps Afghan and Iraqi translators gain their U.S. Special Immigration Visas and ensures that they are properly resettled in America. When our Afghan and Iraqi allies resettle in the US, they usually come with nothing more than the clothes on their back and whatever they can fit into one suitcase. We feel that given their profound service to our nation's military while at war, these interpreters deserve better than years of waiting on seldom delivered visas and almost no support in resettling in America.
Description
We help with immigration services to interpreters and translators who are being denied visas due to the bureaucratic red tape. We provide furnished apartments, modest financial support to help cover the weeks it can take before their social service benefits (food, medical, etc.) begin, and employment placement assistance. We also pair up newly arrived refugees with other Iraqis and Afghans who have successfully immigrated to the US -- to help smooth the transition.
