We are looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers for Carolina Conexiones, the Bilingual Pediatric Navigator program at UNC Health Care Volunteer Services. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to support Spanish-speaking patients and families during their visits to the NC Children’s Hospital outpatient clinics. Volunteers can be undergraduate students (2nd year and older), postgraduate students, or adults. If you would like more information and/or the participation form, send an email to

Shifts:

Monday through Friday during business hours

Basic requirements:

speak Spanish, commitment to 6 months of service

Conexiones orientations are held in the fall and spring. Contact the program via email forspecific orientation dates.

Notes:

Facilitating English-Spanish communication is part of the Navigator role, but the role is not as an Interpreter for UNC Health Care (i.e. Navigators do not interpret for the doctor-patient interaction).
