We need an energetic volunteer to get out to our various properties consistently year in and year out to supply us with new photographs for our Instagram and other social media accounts. All photos would be available for our use in any publication, website, or social media account.

Mission Statement

To protect and conserve the natural areas of Johnson and surrounding counties for future generations.


The Bur Oak Land Trust is a local, non-profit organization committed to the preservation and enjoyment of natural areas in Johnson County and nearby areas in Iowa. These include prairies, woodlands, wetlands, and sites of historic, archaeological or scenic interest.

The Trust currently maintains and preserves nine local natural areas for the enjoyment and education of the public and holds 14 conservation easements.
