Outgoing, friendly volunteers for our Front Desk:
*Especially needed: dependable adult volunteers interested in regular weekly Tuesday noon-3:15pm shift, Wednesday 8:55am-noon or Wednesday noon-3:15pm shift during the school year.
This is an ongoing opportunity! Front Desk Reception volunteers for the Stage Nature Center to staff the front information area. Volunteers greet and count visitors, answer the phone, and direct calls to appropriate staff member or take messages. Help visitors with questions they may have, make sure they are apprised of appropriate flyers and opportunities for involvement with the Nature Center. Volunteers will open or close the nature center interpretive building, depending on shift hours. Volunteers check-in participants for programs and other events held at the nature center. Volunteers help wipe down high-touch surfaces. Front Desk volunteers may also be given instructions and all materials for craft preparation that may be needed for upcoming programs. 3 hour shifts morning or afternoon, Tuesdays through Saturdays.
The nature center building is open Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm and Saturday 10 am - 4 pm. We are closed on Sundays, Mondays and holiday weekends
This opportunity is for age 15 years and above. Application with Background Check Authorization is required, approval process typically takes 10- 15 days. Once your application is approved, we will arrange a time for a brief interview with orientation and training. We use the website SignUpGenius.com to allow volunteers to view and sign up for opportunities. Use of a PC to sign up for shifts is helpful.

Description
Stage Nature Center is managed by the Troy Nature Society, a nonprofit organization. This unique 100-acre preserve has two miles of walking trails, rolling meadows, forest trails and marshlands. Visitors to the Stage Nature experience a variety of sights and sounds that are unique in the Troy area. Our visitors are in awe of the natural beauty that surrounds them as they walk our trails.
Inside the Stage Nature Center interpretive building, many nature-inspired educational programs are held throughout the year such as nature hikes, Knee-High Naturalists, Little Acorns, Nature Explorers, Maple Syrup Days, scouting badge completion classes, home school nature classes, school field trips and so much more!
