Easter Collection/Fundraiser for Homeless Keiki

Aloha,

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers. Our agency is solely supported by public donations to care for the homeless children living in extreme poverty. Our keiki are UNSHELTERED, they live in tents, cars and along the coast line without any basic life necessities.

These children deserve all the wonders that the holidays bring!! The basic holiday events being brought to them is a vital step to their self-esteem and social life skills learning process.

Imagine waking up in a puka filled tent, the sun shinning on your face knowning that today you might not eat, today will be like every other. No bath, no food, nothing to do but play in the dirt with whatever you can find in the rubbish can left behind by beach goers. What is that HOPPING across the sand? Is it the Easter Bunny? Bringing baskets, food, and ALOHA? The eyes of our keiki are filled with wonder.

Our agency will be sure to provide them with the basic life needs, as well as bring them a little fun over their holiday. We will provide them with Bunny Bags filled with hygiene products, an Easter bucket filled with school supplies, games, and other educational and life needs, like shoes, outfits, and a healthy meal.

Volunteers are needed to help us with our FUND-RAISING Events to assure we can meet the needs of our homeless keiki. We currently are providing services to approximately 120 children along the Wai'anae coast, high in the mountains and spread across the cities.

April 8th-April 15th. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays across the island

in KAPOLEI:

April 8th Saturday in Kapolei from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

April 14th- Friday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

(Safeway Shopping Center area)

in Pearl City:

April 9th Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

April 15th Saturday 11:a.m. to 2: p.m.

(Pearl City First Hawaiian Bank / Kam HWY corner of Waimano Home road)

Volunteers please arrive 5-10 minutes early for orientation and sign in. We want to start on time!! Mahalo

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY DUTIES: All volunteers will be working as a team to accomplish our goal of raising funds. Volunteers will be holding awareness signs and fish nets to collect donations from the public. This event is not suitable to young children (under 8), or elderly (over 65ish).

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Individuals/small groups under 9

1. Email us with the dates you would like to attend.
2. Show up 5-10 minutes prior to event
3. Bring your papers for us to sign if you need

GROUPS over 10 (Both Adults and High School Students)

1. Email us to REQUEST the dates you would like to attend. We limit groups to 20 or less, we can accommodate you on your own date or shift if needed)
2. Have your ENTIRE group show up 10 minutes prior to time to sign in. IT IS BEST TO TELL YOUR GROUP THAT IT STARTS 10 minutes early as everyone seems to run late
3. Groups must bring their own water bottles, while we will have some, it is very difficult to keep all the water cold.

Families with minor children between 8-12 years:

1. Families with minor children will need to be approved.
2. Families with minor children will need to provide one adult supervisor willing to help.
3. Please bring plenty of provisions for your child's needs, such as snacks, water, etc. Please be sure your children eat right before they come.

WHAT TO WEAR:

• Comfortable clothing for the weather (typically hot). Shorts and t's are fine. Groups/companies, etc can wear their logo t's as well.
• Wear COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES, you will be on your feet for 3 hours walking/moving around.
• Sun protection...sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses will help you fight against the elements of being outdoors.
• BONUS HOUR: Get a FREE HOUR for wearing an Easter Theme Hat or Headband... bunny ears, etc.

WHAT TO BRING:

• A water bottle is good. we will have a cooler on hand and snacks
• Your community service papers. If you don't bring them, I can't sign them
• A friend is always nice, and YOU earn an extra hour of service for bringing one.
