Sylvan Dale Ranch is made up of 3,200 acres some of it is protected land and surrounded by National Forest, it’s the perfect environment to teach kids potentially lifesaving skills. Instructors and assistants teach the basics of surviving in the wild. Including but not limited to: what to pack when hiking/camping, navigation with compass and map, and guiding them through the terrain. (No previous teaching experience is needed.)

The Heart-J Center provides hands-on learning for all ages within the beautiful setting of historic Sylvan Dale Ranch. We offer a broad array of field trips, workshops, retreats, and scientific research, all making the most of Sylvan Dale’s unique location and beautiful setting. In addition to our schedule of educational events, we welcome partnerships with nonprofit groups, educational institutions, and others interested in working with us to create customized learning experiences. Our volunteers help us make it all happen.
