We are seeking volunteers to develop partnerships with local businesses to support interpreters who worked for the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan and who are new to the Houston area.
Combat interpreters who worked for the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan arrive in the United States without friends or family, and few resources to restart their lives. Houston is an amazing city full of people who are ready to help these men and women integrate into Houston's culture. The local Strategic Partnership Developer helps to develop local partnerships and resources to help support our local operations and the integration of these men and women. In conjunction with NOLB's local volunteers (job developers, interfaith partners, resources liaisons, and chapter president) the Strategic Partnership Developers will contact local businesses and develop relationships to provide support to new families. Some examples include partnering with local hotels to receive donations of pillows and towels, local clothing stores for interview clothes for new arrivals, and more.

Mission Statement
No One Left Behind helps Afghan and Iraqi translators gain their U.S. Special Immigration Visas and ensures that they are properly resettled in America. When our Afghan and Iraqi allies resettle in the US, they usually come with nothing more than the clothes on their back and whatever they can fit into one suitcase. We feel that given their profound service to our nation's military while at war, these interpreters deserve better than years of waiting on seldom delivered visas and almost no support in resettling in America.
Description
We help with immigration services to interpreters and translators who are being denied visas due to the bureaucratic red tape. We provide furnished apartments, modest financial support to help cover the weeks it can take before their social service benefits (food, medical, etc.) begin, and employment placement assistance. We also pair up newly arrived refugees with other Iraqis and Afghans who have successfully immigrated to the US -- to help smooth the transition.
