No experience necessary. We train you - it's rewarding and fun!

Share your love of science and nature! For 40 years, the Environmental Volunteers has been promoting the understanding of and responsibility for the environment through hands-on science education. The EV’s headquarters is the EcoCenter, a public nature center and education resource in the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve.

The EcoCenter is open to the public on select days, and our docents are there to greet the public and share their love of the outdoors with visitors of all ages. They might be leading nature hikes in the Baylands, guiding visitors on our interactive touchscreen displays, or sharing hands-on learning activities about local birds, native plants, earthquakes, and more.

If you want to become a part of the EV community, or are interested in finding out more, please contact Volunteer@EVols.org. We look forward to hearing from you!

About Environmental Volunteers

Mission Statement

To promote the understanding of and responsibility for the environment through hands-on science education.

Description

In 1972, when awareness of threats to the San Francisco Bay ecosystem began to grow, a group of women concerned about preserving the estuary for future generations created a small, hands-on program for local children. The program included a field trip to the Bay so students could experience it, know it, enjoy it, and grow to take care of it. This was the birth of Environmental Volunteers. Since then, more than 300,000 children and adults have explored natural science learning with us!
