  • 15 people are interested

Volunteers working in our Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) classrooms or our Sunshine Preschool Immersion classroom will be supervised by our teachers.

Your responsibilities will include providing Total Communication (signed and spoken English) language to students, assisting at snack-time, supervising children while at play, and providing support to teachers and aides. We are seeking someone who can comfortably commit to one class a week (3.5 hours a day)if not more!

An ideal volunteer would be someone who desires work experience in a classroom of students aged 18mo-5 years old who are deaf, hard of hearing, and/or have special needs, or among typically developing children who we want exposed to sign language.

Qualifications sought include basic sign language, some experience with working with children, and a desire to gain general early childhood education experience in a classroom setting.

Please respond to this posting with some information about yourself, relevant experience (if any), and whether or not you have sign language experience. Thank you for your interest!
