Feline Foster Heroes Needed!

Milwaukee Pets Alive isn’t just another rescue. We are here to shape rescue. Join us as a Cat Foster Parent (or Feline Foster Heroes as we like to call them)! There’s never been a better time to volunteer with us if you are looking to be a part of something bigger than yourself - help us as we work towards building a sanctuary so we can serve even MORE special animals and make SE WI No Kill! While our sanctuary will be a place for rehabilitation, healing, socialization, and as a halfway haven to get lives out of danger and into safety quickly, still, the best place for companion animals is in a home with a family so Cat Foster Parents (Homes) are very much integral to the sanctuary model we have put together. This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality!

Milwaukee Pets Alive (MPA) is an all-volunteer, No Kill, 501c3 special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization. These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources - all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important.

Our mission, through our work aforementioned and through comprehensive programs and resources to educate and help community members help the animals in their own lives (thereby preventing more animals from entering the shelter system), is to end the killing of homeless companion animals in southeast WI. The population we rescue comprises those that continue to die in the greatest numbers in our community.

Our vision is for southeast WI to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals.

We couldn’t help these special animals of our community that we do if not for our wonderful foster families! MPA is currently an entirely foster home-based rescue. Because our organization only utilizes foster homes at this time, the number of lives we can save depends directly on the number of foster homes we have.

WE HAVE AN URGENT NEED FOR CAT FOSTER PARENTS (HOMES)!!! The population of animals we serve do best in quiet, peaceful, low-stress, calm, low-traffic, tranquil, adult-only foster homes with foster parents who are kind, gentle, patient, and understanding and want to help the life/lives they are bestowed with caring for reach their highest potential! We are also always in extra-special-need of foster homes as described above that also have no other animals in them as many of the cats we help do best as only-animals.

MPA Cat Foster Parents love and care for their foster kitty as they would members of their own family - because they are family! In fact, you as their foster parent may be the first family they ever had. What an honor for you, and a blessing for your foster kitty!

MPA Cat Foster Parents must be able to commit to their foster cat for as long as they need and until they are adopted.

We work closely with our foster parents and the animals in our program (we are family!). In order to do so, our foster families must be located in the Milwaukee Metro Area of Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Waukesha, and Ozaukee counties.

A full set up of supplies, food, litter, and every luxury our precious foster kitties want and need is provided to them by MPA.

MPA Cat Foster Parents must be able to transport their foster cat to vet appointments as needed.

It's hard not to bond with a special kitty that you help through often a tough time in their lives...and not surprisingly, foster parents falling in love with their foster kitty happens quite often here! We have an extremely high foster to adoption rate! The selfless individuals who open their heart and home to the special cats that need them with the sole purpose of making that animal's life better is exactly the quality and character of person we seek in a permanent placement for one of our precious family members! If one of our foster parents is a fit for the long-term needs of one of our animals, a foster relationship often turns into an adoption! (Please note however, adoption is not a requirement for fostering).

When every person does a little to make a difference, together, we make change. Reaching as many people as possible to let them know we’re here (and we need them as foster parents!) and the important work we are doing for an important population of animals that have no one else but us is directly proportionate to what we can achieve, and the number of animals we can save.
