CASA of San Joaquin County is a non-profit program of the Child Abuse Prevention Council in San Joaquin County. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a group of volunteers (ordinary members of the community with different backgrounds and experiences) who have been screened, trained and sworn in as officers of the court in order to advocate in court, at home and at school for the very best interest of the foster youth in our county.
You do not have to be a lawyer or social worker to be a CASA volunteer. We welcome people from all walks of life. We are simply looking for people who care about children. As a volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained and well supported by professional staff who will SUPPORT you through your advocacy with a foster child. No special background or education is required to become a CASA volunteer. We encourage people from all cultures and professions, and of all ethnic and educational backgrounds.
To learn more about becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) to a foster youth in our county, please join us for our next information session:

Mission Statement
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of San Joaquin County. The CASA Program endeavors to ensure that abused, neglected and abandoned children who have become dependents of the San Joaquin County Court will have a safe and permanent home.
Description
CASA - A Powerful Voice in a Child's Life
CASA of San Joaquin County is currently recruiting community volunteers to serve as "eyes and ears" for the Court and provide a "voice" for a child; at home, in school and in the court room. CASA of San Joaquin County provides the screening, training and on-going support necessary to be successful advocates for the neediest of children in our County. The CASA volunteer provides continuity by staying on the case until it is permanently resolved. Volunteers are expected to have contact with their CASA child every week, attend court hearings as needed, and provide written reports to the court. The written reports include all interviews, visits, and assessments taken by the CASA in regard to recommendations based on the child’s very best interest. If you, or someone you know is interested in becoming a CASA volunteer please contact Trinidad Olivas-Newcomb at (209) 644-5319
