Community Foundations (CF) provide a broad spectrum of community programs and services and address local needs and opportunities via grant making, community convening and engagement. CF’s are tax exempt, non-profit, publicly supported philanthropic organization with the long term goal of building permanent, named funds for the broad-based public benefit of the residents in a given area. A CF has 3 specific roles in the community. Create and raise funds for permanent endowments for community investment, provide broad flexible grant making for today and the future and serve as a community leader.

Golden Valley Community Foundation (GVCF) is positioned to become the leading force for expanding private philanthropy in our area. The Board of Directors (Board) is the Foundation's chief policy-making body. As such, the Board bears ultimate responsibility for the legal, financial, administrative, grant making, community service and fundraising activities of the Foundation. The Board consists of up to 15 volunteer members, all of whom serve as full voting members. Members are chosen by the Board.
