Esperanza Event

Esperanza seeks talented and passionate volunteers to assist with interpretation between Spanish and English, specifically for our unaccompanied children clients. These children need your help during their asylum interviews at the LA Asylum Office in Tustin, Ca.

Esperanza interpreters will work alongside staff attorneys to interpret at clients’ asylum office interviews and practice interviews. Esperanza is also looking for help translating documents from English to Spanish, and interpreting for clients at educational workshops. There are opportunities to volunteer weekly and at various times. Practice interviews take place at Esperanza's office.

Potential volunteers will be guided through the process by experienced staff. No prior experience is necessary. Volunteering as an interpreter is guaranteed to be a hugely rewarding experience!

You will:

  • help a child at risk of deportation
  • advance social justice for minors
  • develop interpretation/translation skills
  • learn about immigration law
  • connect to immigrant rights advocates
