Description: Come out to one of our garden volunteer times and help us maintain the crops through a variety of activities, including weeding, watering, harvesting, and pest control. This is a great opportunity to learn more about gardening and make a positive contribution to the food security of our community since the majority of all produce generated in the campus garden is donated to the Whitewater Food Pantry. Come out and chip in and feel free to ask your garden-related questions while you work and myself or someone on our garden team will do their best to answer them. We meet at the garden site in between Moraine Bookstore and Ambrose Health Center. Coordinates are listed above in the street address.
Skills: No gardening skills or knowledge needed. In fact, we cater to people that lack garden experience since we're all beginners! Just an ability to perform basic manual labor related to weeding and harvesting, which are the most strenuous tasks we have. Please inform us if you have any allergies or sensitivities, particularly toward bees, as a healthy garden always has a healthy amount of bees going about the business of pollinating. Wear clothing suitable for current outdoor conditions. If you have work gloves or tools you prefer, you are welcome to bring them but we do provide both as needed.
Volunteer Times:
Tuesdays 4:30-6:30pm
Wednesdays 3-6pm
Fridays 11-1pm
