Do you have a desire to help young adults succeed?
As a Career Mentor, you’ll support a current foster youth working towards adult independence reach their potential by inspiring them to pursue their dreams.
In the Family Care Network’s Career Mentor program, we want to connect our foster teens with local professionals, helping our youth learn more about careers paths, goals and opportunities.
Career Mentor opportunities are available, depending on your interest and availability.
Career Mentor:
Meet with a youth at your workplace for one hour
Share helpful information with them about your current position, employer and related industry
Inform youth about the career path you took to get to your current role; including the challenges and rewards you’ve experienced

Description
The Family Care Network, Inc. (FCNI) is a private, nonprofit children and families services provider. Established in 1987 for the purpose of creating family-based treatment programs as an alternative to group home or institutional care for children and youth, the agency now operates multiple, accredited programs designed to strengthen and preserve families and individuals. In the agency's 34 year history, we have grown to serve over 2,000 children, youth and families annually in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. FCNI values intergrity, accountability, program fidelity and outcome-based services, and is accredited by the California Alliance of Child and Family Services. At the Family Care Network, we have many opportunities for individuals, businesses and organizations to partner with us to help accomplish our mission. Partnership opportunities include: becoming a foster parent, career mentor, intern, event volunteer, or event sponsor for one of FCNI's annual fundraising events: Be the Difference, Benefit for Kids and Give Joy for the holidays.
