A very dog-savvy person or professional trainer/behaviorist preferred. Establish training evaluations and Help coordinate training for all dogs in foster that need it, helping choose the best trainer based on foster location and canine issue. Serve as the initial go-between between foster and trainer. Research local trainers and add to our list of training resources when appropriate trainer options are found. Offer training advice when needed when actual training with a paid trainer isn't absolutely necessary. Update spreadsheets and rescue database and rest of coordinator team to indicate which dogs are in training, for what issues and with whom. STAR is neither pure positive nor heavy handed. We fall in the middle on the training spectrum and continuously look to partner with like-minded trainers that will offer their services free or at a discount. This is a volunteer position. Must have regular computer access and have at least 10 hours per week to devote.

Mission Statement
Survivor Tails Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 registered, foster based animal rescue that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes abused, neglected, and unwanted cats and dogs. We aim to decrease the euthanasia rates of our high-kill shelter partners by promoting adoption and educating the public on the importance of spaying/neutering and microchipping their pets. Lastly, we strive to maintain a network of dependable foster families, capable veterinarians, and experienced trainers to ensure preparedness of our rescued pets for healthy, fulfilling lives in their adoptive homes.
Description
More than 4 million cats and dogs die each year in animal shelters across the country due to overpopulation issues. That's why we're here. Our mission is twofold: to find these unwanted animals loving homes of their own and to work with communities and like-minded organizations to stop the issue of overpopulation from the top. We don't want to just put a bandage on the issue, we want to prevent animal homelessness from the getgo.
