We are looking for people or groups to come in about once a week to help us sort the tabs that we get in. Volunteers can choose daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to come in and sort.
This is a perfect opportunity for high school students looking to earn some silver cord or community service hours. *Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please note a few things:
This opportunity is outside our garage. Please dress according to the weather. (We do have a fan and heater, but it can still be hot or cold inside the garage.)
This can be a one-time volunteer opportunity or something that you can plan to do over time.
We are asking about a 2 hours a week commitment, sometimes longer or shorter depending on how many tab tops we get in a week.
If you have any questions or are interested, please contact me at maggie@rmhdesmoines.org or call 515-204-2005.

Mission Statement
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa, Inc. Enriches the Quality of Life for Children and Their Families.
Description
Helping a sick child fight their illness takes a big enough emotional toll on a family. Adding a financial strain can make it all almost too much to bear. RMHC can help address those problems, whether they involve housing that’s near a hospitalized child, the expense of staying together in another city, or even getting basic medical and dental care in a vulnerable community. In 2015, RMHC has local Chapters in 60 countries and regions with:
- 353 Ronald McDonald House
- 196 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms
- 50 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles
- Grants to non-profit organizations that also focus on the needs of children
- Scholarships to students across the United States
- Chapters around the world creating country-specific programs
