Growing Common Ground's Publicity
ORGANIZATION: Common Ground Garden
Please visit the new page to apply.
Common Ground Garden (CGG) is a sustainable demonstration garden that offers inspiration and education to the wider community.
A significant portion of our fundraising comes from hosting adult classes at Common Ground Garden. Therefore, it is important for us to increase our class attendance and maximize ticket sales to support our garden programs. We need someone who is handy with navigating websites, sending emails, and visiting shops/cafes/community centers, etc. to help us spread the word about our classes. We schedule new batches of classes several times a year, and when we do so we need to update all of our publicity. In addition, our two annual events, the Edible Garden Tour and the Harvest Festival will also need promoting.
We need someone who has an interest in event promoting, can send clear courteous emails, and be amiable and clear in person or over the phone. While asking people or organizations to help promote our classes, we want to present a good face for Common Ground Garden.
Specifically we need our volunteer to
Update our online class publicity at least 4 times/year
Use our publicity spreadsheet to keep track of where/when classes have been posted
Visit different cafes, nurseries, shops, community centers, colleges, etc. to drop off and/or post our fliers.
Doing publicity for our classes is very important to keeping our organization alive, but it is also time consuming. Our staff has trouble achieving our publicity goals while running the garden and all of our programs at the same time.
Please let us know if you are interested; we would love the help!
In return, we would love to send you home with some fresh veggies from CGG!

About Common Ground Garden
Location:
687 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, CA 94306, US
Mission Statement
Common Ground Garden transforms our students’ relationships to food by inspiring them to eat mindfully, to make healthy and sustainable food choices, and ultimately to grow their own food through biologically-intensive, sustainable gardening practices.
Description
Our community garden is a place of hands-on learning for all ages.
Common Ground Garden offers free classes with a unique approach to sustainable living: growing soil to grow food and community. This means we start with making nutritious soil (without depleting other sources), which inevitably leads to healthy plants and healthy people. By empowering people to then teach others in their community, this becomes a powerful cycle that perpetuates itself.
