Spanish speaking volunteers are needed to teach financial literacy classes in Houston and the greater Houston area. Our ideal volunteer speaks Spanish fluently, possesses basic knowledge of personal finance, is passionate about educating low income women, and is seeking to empower others.

There is no need to be a finance expert to volunteer! Our curriculums, created by the FDIC and the U.S. Department of Labor, offer instructor guides which we pair with tips from our most experienced volunteers. Throughout the year we offer events and workshops to improve your skills as an instructor and meet fellow volunteers.

Our financial education classes are:

  • Offered in English or Spanish
  • 60 or 90 minutes in length
  • Hosted at social service agencies in 41 of Houston’s zip codes
  • Primarily offered between 8am and 6pm
  • Cover topics such as banking, budgeting, saving, credit management, and investing 101

Class audiences include:

  • First year college students
  • Families in financial crises
  • Survivors of domestic abuse
  • Female veterans
  • Refugee immigrants
  • Incarcerated women transitioning to re-entry

Our volunteers are required to:

  • Attend a volunteer orientation
  • Complete a background check
  • Teach a minimum of 3 classes a year

Volunteers select the location, time, and topic of the classes they would like to teach from a list of classes on our online calendar. With a minimum of teaching just three classes a year, the power to choose when and where you teach, and all course materials provided to instructors, volunteering is both gratifying and convenient!
