Working as a counseling volunteer abroad can look very different depending on the location and placement you choose, since counseling can be quite a diverse fielded.

Many individuals who become counseling volunteers abroad are placed in a youth counselor and community college, urban or rural schools, hospitals and clinic, orphanages, rag pickers, rehabilitation centers, women in sex trafficking and domestic violence working directly with local children and teenagers. Some youth centers are live-in, while others are after-school programs, but all our placements give volunteer’s hands on counseling experience with young people, adults and children.

Volunteer work activities

  • Through talking, creative work and play, volunteers provide children, teenagers and adults with the opportunities to be heard and to express their feelings.
  • Preparing documents required for counselling process and record keeping
  • Organizing and scheduling individual and group counselling, preparing case studies and record maintenance.
  • Prepare training materials, and organize various types of counselling skills training and workshops etc.

Project requirements

  • Duration- Minimum of 2 weeks to 4 weeks (short term) and durations ranging from 4-24 weeks (long term) onwards.
  • Age limit - Above 18+ and maximum age depends on participant's health.
  • Qualification-Do not really require. If a volunteer qualified, skilled, experienced in relavent field of studies will be an added asset for our projects.
  • Visa type - Your trips fall under the category of work experience and you will need to obtain a tourist or work visa to India.
  • Program and Registration Fee: Please Contact us
  • What is included and not included: covers food 3 times a day, stay, airport pick up and drop, training and placement, 24 / 7 hours monitoring and supervision, certification and work experience letter. Your program or registration fee does not cover flight from and to, visa, health insurance, food outside or entry fee outside the project visit, internet etc.

Description

Kenosis Foundation (KF) is a not-for-profit voluntary organization, registered (Reg # 166/2013-2014) on 29th June 2013, under Sec.7 of the Indian Trusts Act 1882. We focus on rural areas and support women and the children of widows, single moms, abuse victims, victims of physical harassment, and disadvantaged, underprivileged and the economically weaker sections of society. Our head office is located in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka State, India.

We identify poorest of the poor rural villages and work for causes ranging from child welfare, health and education, economic empowerment for women, creating employment opportunities for dropout and underprivileged youths, health and hygiene in communities and schools, After School Programs, Women Self Help Groups (SHG’s), Teach English and Computer, Bio-organiz forming, Animal healthcare, Solidwaste management, building and renovation of beneficiaries homes and schools, youth vocational skill training, organize campaign and training, summer and health camps, life skills education in rural villages and schools, Renovation of beneficiaries house and construction of toilet, women's empowerment and empowering women to start self business and income generating (IGP) activities. Kenosis is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty in rural India.
