PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The American Red Cross launched the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign (HFPC) in October 2014, with the goal to reduce the rate of deaths and injuries due to home fires by 25 over 5 years. Its strategy includes participating in a community coalition that targets neighborhoods at-risk for home fires, installs and tests smoke alarms, and provides fire safety and disaster preparedness education/planning. This position exists primarily to coordinate all aspects of the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign - Smoke Alarm program planning and implementation within a given chapter/territory. The Local Program Coordinator may work independently or engage a number of campaign leads to coordinate each event (Volunteer Recruitment Lead, External Relations Lead, Neighborhood Captain, Rally Logistics Lead, etc).
