ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Georgia Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
• Meeting and collaborating with local fire departments and stakeholders and maintaining ongoing communication. • Planning and implementing the local program to reach the target audience with working smoke alarms and safety education. • Determining at-risk target audiences, numbers of smoke alarms and batteries needed and available, and numbers of workers needed for the rallies. • Recruiting, training, managing and recognizing volunteers. • Organizing canvassing events, pre-event outreach, notification and promotion for home visits. • Ensuring that all documentation is completed and all reports filed. • Completing campaign evaluation and including local stakeholders in the evaluation process. • Canvassing Captains

OPEN TIME DAYS
40 - 60 hours over the course of 2 -3 months, once a quarter on average

REQUIRED TRAINING
• American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation
• Disaster Services: An Overview (optional)
• Home Fire Preparedness Campaign Guidance and Training: Safety for Home Visits, Fire Safety and Disaster Education, and other required training.
