About

The Chinese Culture Center (CCC) is seeking a Gallery & Art Program Intern/Volunteer to assist with our gallery operation and art programs. The CCC Visual Art Center presents contemporary art and innovative artists. As the first impression of our visual arts, the role is integral to our public engagement strategy to shift the dominant narrative about Asian Americans. We want everyone to leave with a positive impression and understanding about our contemporary arts and vibrant community.

You will work closely with the art team staff and other members of the organization.

Intern/Volunteer will learn about and assist in program planning and coordinating to showcase emerging artists and designers in the CCC Visual Art Center and shop. Great for people who want to be involved with public art events planning and logistic management. Also great for a person who loves introducing culture and arts to others in a meaningful way, and challenging stereotypes.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Assisting art programs including exhibitions, pop-up events, artist talks, etc.

  2. Art engagement and support: greeting visitors, engaging the public, and interacting with people about the current exhibition, art, and the community

  3. Providing support to educate on the Center, Chinatown, and discussion about art in low-income neighborhoods, contemporary art, challenging stereotypes, and other topics

  4. Give tours to small groups of visitors, schools, and community groups as needed

  5. Assist in gallery shop: make sales, keep track of and promote local artists and designers

  6. Work with gallery staff on merchandising and marketing (if applicable)

  7. Participate in our monthly shop committee meeting: overview new artists, vendors, and merchandise for the shop, discuss overall design of shop, and take meeting minutes

  8. General office administrative duties as needed (phone, email, etc.)

The CCC Visual Art Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00am-4:00pm.
