ORGANIZATION: Canine Companions for Independence, Northwest Region

You can make a difference! We are looking for volunteers with strong leadership skills for essential committee positions to lead DogFest Portland!

DogFest Walk n’ Roll(tm) wouldn’t be possible without the support of committed volunteers. You can get involved in a variety of ways in the planning of DogFest by joining a local DogFest committee, such as team recruitment, sponsorship, publicity, logistics or entertainment.

Please consider this exciting possibility of being a part of a fun, family and dog-friendly event, with all proceeds benefiting Canine Companions’ mission to provide life-changing assistance dogs to children, adults and veterans across the country.

Description

Canine Companions provides expertly-trained assistance dogs to children, adults and veterans with disabilities free of charge. Canine Companions assistance dogs perform physical tasks for people with disabilities, including picking up dropped items and delivering them to their handler, turning on and off lights, opening and closing doors and drawers, and other tasks to increase their handlers independence. Canine Companions also trains hearing dogs to alert people who are deaf or hard of hearing to important sounds in their environment. Canine Companions relies on the support of thousands of volunteers across the country.
