Los Lunas/Belen--Heartland Hospice is looking for people who have a little extra time and a lot of heart! We are a dedicated team that focuses on enhancing the quality of life by providing comfort care to patients in the final phase of a terminal illness.
Our program stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient and we strive to ensure that our patients spend their final days in dignity and comfort.
Volunteers provide a supportive role only, no hands-on care is required. Heartland Hospice volunteers say that being involved with another person's hospice experience gives them a greater appreciation for life.
Each Heartland volunteer receives free and comprehensive training (in Albuquerque) before being assigned their first volunteer position in the patient's home. There are also legal requirements, including background checks, fingerprinting and a TB tests. All at no cost to you.
