The Books Between Kids Book Brigade is a team of volunteer leaders who are committed to the mission and vision of Books Between Kids. They play a vital role within the organization by helping to facilitate and lead volunteer opportunities at the warehouse, promoting Books Between Kids within the community, and working with our staff and board members to identify new ways in which our program can be strengthened and improved.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to build home libraries for children in need, one summer at a time.
Description
Founded by Sandra Ahlhorn and Amy Barnes in 2012, Books Between Kids is a non-profit organization that collects gently used books to help build home libraries for Houston children in need. Books are delivered to Houston ISD elementary school children each May prior to the summer break. In May of 2016 over 36,000 HISD school children took home more than 260,000 books. Our goal is to reach 50,000 children annually by May of 2018.
