Volunteers needed to supervise children of students taking free English classes at the Catholic Worker in order to allow those who have no other source of childcare to attend classes free of distractions. The volunteer would work with at least one other person.
Classes are offered 10:00-11:30am MTWF and 7:00-8:30pm MTWTh. Volunteers sign up for one or more of these times each week.
Volunteers must complete a training, background check, and fingerprinting through the Diocese of Oakland. Experience with children preferred and basic Spanish very helpful.

Our mission is one of living simply and communally with multicultural volunteers and guests, helping those most in need in East Oakland community, supporting an extended community of former guests in keeping itself organized and healthy, and advocating for the elimination of unjust structures locally and globally.
Description
The Oakland Catholic Worker has served as a transitional shelter and accompaniment program for Latin American refugees since 1986. In addition we serve our East Oakland neighbors in need by offering:
- English as a Second Language classes
- Hot food and weekly grocery distribution programs
- A gathering space for the religious and cultural needs of our extended community
- Advocacy promoting change with those marginalized by existing unjust political, social and economic structures
