Join us on 3rd Saturdays, 9am to noon, for a monthly habitat restoration day --Hike up to Inspiration Point or our Todd Quick restoration and learn about the plants along the way. At the site, restore native habitat by removing invasive plants and planting native plants. There are lots of new native plants growing this year!
At the park's entrance kiosk, identify yourself as a weeding volunteer, and your entrance fee will be waived.
For 3rd Saturdays, drive to the farthest parking lot, and park at the first bridge (across from the Log Cabin). Walk across the bridge and past the Log Cabin. Meet at the Maintenance Bldg at 9 am for orientation & training. Together we will walk up to Todd Quick, work there for ~2 1/2 hours, then walk back down to the parking lot.
Dress in layers, appropriately for the weather. Wear hiking boots and a cap or hat. Bring water, sunblock, sturdy weeding gloves, weeding tool (optional). Rain cancels.
We also meet every Monday Mornings at the end of the parking lot past the YSI.
Join our Yahoo group at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/AlumRockParkVolunteers/info to get updates and be informed about upcoming oportunities. We also take volunteers out for educational hikes.
