JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOLLOW THIS HISTORY OF FRIENDS OF FERALS:

Northern Colorado Friends of Ferals has spayed, neutered and vaccinated more than 6,300 homeless cats in northern Colorado, potentially preventing thousands of future kittens from being euthanized in our shelters or struggling to survive outdoors.

Our major goal for 2016 is to tackle the high euthanasia rate in Cheyenne, WY through our trap, neuter and return (TNR) clinics. Stray and feral cats will be humanely trapped and transported to Fort Collins for surgery, treatment and recovery. Our feral cats receive the same standard of care as any domestic, client-owned cat. We believe that they have been through enough in their lives already and deserve the best medical care we can afford to give them!

NCFF has also instituted a program to assist colony caregivers with medical treatment, purchasing an X-ray machine and forming alliances with low cost, high-quality veterinarians in the area.

NCFF needs serious and committed volunteers at each of our monthly TNR clinics. This requires a pledge to work a minimum of six days over the course of one year. Our clinics occur over the course of three days. Saturdays, the cats are trapped. Sundays, they are spayed or neutered. And, Mondays they're returned to their colonies or placed into foster care. You can volunteer for one or more of the days.

The following positions are now available:

Trappers - travel to outdoor cat colonies, set humane traps with bait, retrieve traps as soon as cats are inside them, and transport them to our holding area in Fort Collins to await surgery the following day. Traps are always covered and they are never left unattended. Trapping can frequently require evening or after-dark work and is always done in pairs.

Vet Techs and Vet Tech Assistants - assist our veterinarians with induction, surgical prep, surgery and recovery. Veterinary experience is preferred but not required for certain tasks. We provide on-the-job training.

Trap Cleaners - clean traps while cats are undergoing surgery and recovering. You will be outside in the glorious sunshine and clean air to do this job!

Transporters - Volunteers with moderately large vehicles transport cats back to their colonies the day after surgery. NCFF can reimburse you for gas or you can donate the gas and deduct the mileage on your income tax return, whichever you prefer.

Cleaners - volunteers are needed to clean the clinic the day after surgery. This involves sweeping and mopping floors and taking out trash. NCFF provides supplies.

Trap Washers - take traps to a car wash, clean them and return them to an agreed-upon location to be determined. NCFF will provide tokens.

NCFF always needs volunteers between clinics too! If you have particular skills in Fundraising, Social Media, Newsletters, or Promotion, we would love to talk to you!
