Entrance to Kitchen Garden

Pennsbury Manor, the reconstructed 17th century home of founder and first governor William Penn, offers unpaid internships in the spring, summer, or fall to Undergraduate and Graduate students interested in the Museum Field. We understand the value of their work and our responsibility to mentor the next generation of Museum/Historic Site professionals. Each internship is tailored to the student’s interests and goals by focusing on a specific project that can be used on the students’ resumes. All internships (except in special cases) include general experience in guiding public tours and assisting with specialty programs, visitor services, and other tasks as needed. This ensures that all students gain a comprehensive knowledge of the daily operations and structure of historic sites, which should help them with deciding their future path in the Museum field.

About Pennsbury Manor State Historic Site

Location:

400 Pennsbury Memorial Road, Morrisville, PA 19067, US

Mission Statement

Pennsbury Manor is the reconstructed home of William Penn, the 17th century founder of Pennsylvania. Penn's vision for a uniquely American colony introduced many basic American ideals. Pennsbury's major purpose is educational. Through tours, exhibits and special programs we teach visitors about Penn's contribution and the social, cultural and material life of early Pennsylvania. As the last federally funded reconstruction, it is also significant to the history of historic preservation.

Description

The quiet setting of this 43-acre estate offers a welcome relief from the hustle-and-bustle of modern life where visitors can experience 17 th-century colonial life. Volunteers work in a variety of ways around the site according to their interests and availability. Our greatest need is always for tour guides, but volunteers also demonstrate colonial crafts, tend the historic gardens, care for our animals, and much more.
