We are currently looking for volunteers in Brighton and the surrounding communities. We hope that you will consider joining us.
Being a caregiver for a loved one is hard work and it is both emotionally and physically exhausting. Maybe you are someone who has been a caregiver before or maybe you have seen someone close to you supporting a loved one at the end of his or her life...
Perhaps you have seen the power of what a volunteer can do for a caregiver.
Volunteers provide for caregivers time - time they can run errands, time for them to go for a walk, read a book, see a movie, take a nap... time for them to care for themselves. We are only at our best in caring for others when we first are able to fill our own cup.
At Hospice of Michigan we invite you to learn about volunteering with us to help the caregivers in your community. We will teach you, guide you through the process of becoming a volunteer and support you and your volunteer work.
We are looking for caring, compassionate people who want to volunteer in order to provide meaningful change in the lives of others. We ask that you volunteer with us (on average) for 1-4 hours a week (12-48 hours a year) and attend at least a few of our monthly Volunteer Lunch and Learn sessions.
Volunteer at a time that works for you and at a location that is close to your home or area that you would like to travel to.
Volunteers are important to us and if you are ready to make a commitment, we are looking to hear from you. Apply online at:http://www.hom.org/get-involved/getting-started/

What sets us apart
Our staff - Our dedicated doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors and hospice aides form a "cocoon of care" around our patients and families, providing comfort, support and dignity.
Our expertise - Because we are one of the largest hospices in the nation, we have specialists in many areas, including pediatric hospice, pain management, research and care for people with advanced dementia and other illnesses.
Our experience - We have been serving our communities for more than 30 years. Among our 600 employees, we have more board-certified hospice physicians and nurses than other hospices.
Our locations - We have offices and worksites throughout the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. Wherever you are, we have a team of hospice specialists who can help you.
Our commitment - We care for all who need and seek our care, regardless of their age, diagnosis or ability to pay. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for our patients and families and for admissions.
Our size - We serve nearly 800 patients and their families every day; nearly one in four hospice patients in Michigan.
