ORGANIZATION: Proyecto Mosaico e.V.

Environmental protection and social responsibility are in the focus of this non-governmental organization which was founded in 1992. The ecological farm is home to a center for intercultural education which’s aim is to promote the intercultural exchange between Germany and Nicaragua as well as a mutual understanding of European and indigenous cultures. The farm economically depends on the production of coconut-oil, making use of organic farming methods. The center furthermore encourages intercultural exchange.

Volunteers can get involved in a number of different ways. Three important areas of volunteer work are education, farming and environment.

Mission Statement

Proyecto Mosaico - Unite. Learn. Grow. *Our Vision* We are committed to international understanding, the protection of natural resources, and the promotion of human rights.

Description

Proyecto Mosaico is a German non-profit association based in Berlin/Germany with an office in Granada/Nicaragua. The focus of our work is coordinating international volunteers to organizations and projects in various countries in Central America. In addition to the coordination of volunteers, we are actively engaged in our own projects in the fields of environmental education and water and we increasingly conduct networking activities and capacity building for our local partner organizations.

We partner with local organizations that specialize in the following areas: EDUCATION & SOCIAL WORK, WOMEN, and/or ENVIRONMENT. We support organizations by providing educational, work, and networking activities, individual consulting, and support for project planning and implementation. We also assist in the collection and distribution of cash or in-kind donations.

We see volunteering as one of the best ways to promote communication and understanding between people from different cultures and thus contribute to international understanding. Our approach to volunteering is defined by equal cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships. As part of our work, we put great value on both sides - organizations and volunteers - benefiting through cooperation. We strive to ensure this mutual benefit by providing robust consulting for our volunteers, keeping close contact with our partner organizations, and offering training and informational events.
