ORGANIZATION: Proyecto Mosaico e.V.

The project’s aim is conserving and restoring tropical rainforest in the area of the Mamoni River Valley, through the development and application of sustainable land use systems (organic agriculture, responsible farming and forest management). The project model includes the conservation of tropical rainforest to protect their environmental services, as for example the protection of biodiversity, soil quality, water balance as well as the storage of carbon; while at the same time, restoring degraded land, formerly used in cattle farming and subsistence agriculture, through sustainable reforestation. These activities will help conserving the existing rainforest and extending the conservation area. The activities previously mentioned, will be supported through the provision of ECO-tourism services and the production and sale of organic eco-friendly products to the local and international market.

Mission Statement

Proyecto Mosaico - Unite. Learn. Grow. *Our Vision* We are committed to international understanding, the protection of natural resources, and the promotion of human rights.

Description

Proyecto Mosaico is a German non-profit association based in Berlin/Germany with an office in Granada/Nicaragua. The focus of our work is coordinating international volunteers to organizations and projects in various countries in Central America. In addition to the coordination of volunteers, we are actively engaged in our own projects in the fields of environmental education and water and we increasingly conduct networking activities and capacity building for our local partner organizations.

We partner with local organizations that specialize in the following areas: EDUCATION & SOCIAL WORK, WOMEN, and/or ENVIRONMENT. We support organizations by providing educational, work, and networking activities, individual consulting, and support for project planning and implementation. We also assist in the collection and distribution of cash or in-kind donations.

We see volunteering as one of the best ways to promote communication and understanding between people from different cultures and thus contribute to international understanding. Our approach to volunteering is defined by equal cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships. As part of our work, we put great value on both sides - organizations and volunteers - benefiting through cooperation. We strive to ensure this mutual benefit by providing robust consulting for our volunteers, keeping close contact with our partner organizations, and offering training and informational events.
